Swindon B2 commercial printer Rumbold Holland has increased its lamination capabilities with the UK’s first double-sided Foliant Mercury 530SF 4X4 lamination system from Intelligent Finishing Systems.
The operation has a wide variety of clients from the public, financial services and retail sectors. The B2 specialist works directly with clients or with them through third party companies including marketing agencies and print management facilitators.
Wayne Rumbold, Joint Managing Director, explains: “We have significantly increased our lamination work for short runs. It is a value-added service we offer and more and more clients are taking it up.
“We had a system that could complete single sided lamination but due to the volume of work that we are now handling it became clear a double-sided system was a necessity.”
He continues: “We looked at Komfi and Autobond but liked the Foliant for a number of reasons. It is easy to use and simple to set up. It also was well priced added to that was the fact we know IFS very well and the service and support it offers.”
The Foliant Mercury 530 SF 4×4 compact industrial laminating machine is constructed for a heavy duty digital and offset outputs lamination, with an integrated suction feeder Heidelberg and a high-speed bump separator.
Rumbold Holland’s Foliant includes the UK’s first module for the double-sided lamination. The B2+ machine’s maximum speed is 20 m/min., while performance is 1650 sheets per hour of B2 portrait (white paper 200 gsm).
Rumbold adds: “The training went very well and we were up and running straight away. If it performs as we expect it to it will pay for itself within 8 months.”
Rumbold Holland has also added a Foliant Multi-functional Inprinting Unit. It makes foiling and spot varnish fast and affordable for short run and personalised print. It applies foil or varnish to a pre-printed black toner. The sheet can then be reprinted mono or four colour.
The Foliant Multi-functional Inprinting Unit runs a wide range of colours including gold, silver, red and green and a clear gloss for spot varnish. It suits a broad range of end uses from corporate stationery to POS and book covers.
