Phase Print Brings Lamination Inhouse with Foliant Buy

Phase Print has brought all its lamination in house with an IFS-supplied Foliant Mercury 530 SF laminator integrating a deep pile stacker.

Kevin Marks, managing director of the B2 and B3 Nottinghamshire general commercial print operation, explains: “We already had lamination capabilities but we needed something that better suited our needs. We were sending some work out and decided that a new laminator would allow us to keep it all in house. That means we can finish it straight away. This saves time and cuts down outsourcing costs.”

As for making the decision about the 25 m/min Foliant Mercury 530SF he says: “We looked at other systems. It had to be the right one. It had to support flexible production and be able to do what we wanted it to do.” “With a responsibility for supplying many blue chip companies and government organisations it was essential we had the right equipment, complimenting the rest of our operation, that delivers high quality, efficient production and cost effective laminating.”

He adds: “We researched the market and heard lots of good things about the Foliant. It is quick to set up and easy to use. We knew it also came with a high level of service and reliability; that was important to us.”

The Foliant Mercury 530SF is a new generation of easy available very compact industrial laminating machines, designed for a heavy duty in house lamination of digital and offset outputs (max. format 53 x 75 cm), with an integrated deep pile vacuum feeder and a high-speed bump separator, in-run adjustable twin decurl bar and overlap system. Due to its pneumatic high pressure system, format and performance the machine is suitable for all jobs – all kinds of digital printed sheets.

He concludes: “It will enhance our operation, efficiency and help us book more business. We can be very confident in the turnaround times we quote. Customers want their jobs to be delivered when they expect them to be. There is no leverage. We can also now sell lamination as a value-added service – especially the soft touch lamination which is proving very popular with many of our customers.”
