One Digital has brought lamination and foiling inhouse with investment in a Foliant Vega 400A Laminator and a Foliant Multi-functional Inprinting Unit from Intelligent Finishing Systems.
Lynn Brazier, joint managing director of the West Sussex operation, explains: “We wanted to bring laminating in house giving us more control of timings and costs. We researched the market and saw the good reviews. We also spoke to other printers who had good things to say. We chose the Foliant because we liked its size and capability.”
One Digital produces a wide range of general commercial print for numerous sectors including government bodies. It runs a five colour B2 Heidelberg SpeedMaster 74 and five colour B3 Heidelberg SpeedMaster 52, a Xerox Novara 120 mono digital press and Xerox iGen150 colour digital press. It also produces wide format print on a Roland XJ740, HP DesignJet Z6800 and Epson 9600 large format systems.
Brazier comments: “We are achieving some stunning effects using the Foliant foiling unit. We are discovering that combining layers of laminate, foil and full colour printing is a very cost-effective way of enhancing your digital print.
“The extra investment we made was the right decision and has enabled us to offer something extra to our customers without compromising quality or turnaround time. We are pleased with the result and it should increase our profitability.”
The Foliant Vega 400A (B3+) is a compact industrial laminating machine, designed for a heavy duty digital outputs. It features an integrated deep pile vacuum feeder and a high-speed bump separator, with non-sticky pressure roller and in-run adjustable twin decurl bar and overlap system. Due to its pneumatic high-pressure system (with integrated compressor inside machine frame), format and performance the machine is suitable for all kinds of digital printed sheets lamination and high volumes of offset printed sheets size B3+ lamination too.
The Foliant Multi-functional Inprinting Unit makes foiling and spot varnish fast and affordable for short run and personalised print. It runs a wide range of colours including gold, silver, red and green and a clear gloss for spot varnish. It suits a broad range of end uses from corporate stationery to POS and book covers.
She concludes: “The Foliant was primarily purchased for the laminating which is in constant use but the foil has really added an extra layer to our service.” Adding: ”IFS is a good company to deal with.”
