HORIZON INTERNATIONAL was established by Mr Hachiro Hori more than 60 years ago in Kyoto and is now Japan’s leading manufacturer of professional bindery solutions for the office, inplant, on-demand, commercial and specialist finishing sectors. Products cover every major bindery discipline including cutting, folding, stitching and perfect binding, in formats from tabletop machines to high extent high volume systems.

Horizon’s main 150,000m² plant on the shore of Lake Biwa, near Kyoto, is the world’s largest facility for the production of finishing equipment and includes some of the most advanced manufacturing systems in the world. The automated facility at Biwako, Shiga, includes all major production processes; flexible lines for machining large parts, multiple-function lathes, gear shaping and die molding, sheet metal stamping and forming, metal plating, chip mounting, robotized warehouse, plastic injection molding, and more. The Horizon facility also has state-of-art climate and EMC testing chambers.

Following the outstanding success of Horizon’s fully-owned subsidiary, Horizon GmbH (turnover has tripled within its first five years), a new pupose-built facility has been completed at Quickborn, near Hamburg, housing the German operation and spare parts distribution hub for the European region. The 3,000 m² premises, which represents a €5 million investment also to offer extensive demonstration and training facilities.
