Johnsons of Nantwich ordered a Foliant Multi-functional Inprinting Unit to support flexible foiling on its Foliant Taurus laminator at the Print Show.
John McMillan managing director of the 32-employee strong operation, that counts national and local firms among its diverse client base, explains: “We wanted to cost effectively add short run and personalised foiling.
“This won’t take away the need for traditional foiling but it will easily handle all our short runs. The fact we don’t need to make a block will reduce costs and decrease turnaround times.”
Mr McMillan adds: “We looked at adding two Caslon systems but then saw the Foliant solution at the Print Show it answered all our needs. It will make us more flexible with production.”
This Foliant Multi-functional Inprinting Unit makes foiling and spot varnish effect fast and affordable for short run and personalised print. The retrofittable solution transforms output from the Vega, Mercury B3/B2 and Taurus B2 laminators using a digital foil transfer process. Digital foiling is where the foil or clear film (for spot varnish effect) is applied only to where pre-printed black toner or HP Indigo black liquid ink is printed on the sheet. The sheet can then be reprinted with black again and again for adding further coloured foils. The sheets can be laminated before or after digital foiling and digital colour, including four colour process, can also be combined to creative some truly stunning and very creative results.
The Foliant Multi-functional Inprinting Unit runs a wide range of colours including gold, silver, red and green and a clear gloss for spot varnish. It suits a broad range of end uses from corporate stationery to POS and book covers
