A Horizon four clamp BQ-500 iCE Binder from Intelligent Finishing Systems will address increased demand for variable book production flexibly at Paragon Customer Communications.
Part of Paragon Group, Paragon Customer Communications (PCC) provides end-to-end communications solutions that help businesses connect with customers easily, rewardingly and imaginatively.
Steven Atkins, head of litho at PCC, explains: “We have been using a Horizon BQ-270V single clamp perfect binder and were pleased with the equipment and service provided from IFS. As part of an investment into our perfect binding capabilities we identified the need for a system that offered greater efficiencies for longer runs.”
The new 800bph Horizon BQ-500 four clamp perfect binder builds on the successful tried and trusted features of its BQ-470 and BQ-480 predecessors. Its enhanced functionality includes an highly automated set up via a large 12.1 inch colour touchscreen, memory storage of up to 999 jobs, pre-installed variable software capability and variable thickness production of 5mm.
It is pre-installed with Horizon’s cloud-based iCE LiNK workflow that provides access to an intuitive, easy to use dashboard that reports real-time production analysis for improved efficiency and profitability, remote update capabilities and scheduled maintenance, resulting in less downtime.
It also incorporates a number of new design features that aid easy operation.
They include a status light that indicates, at a distance, how the binder is running, and an ergonomic design where all the operator required actions are on the same side.
On the new equipment Steven commented: “It was easy to familiarise with the new features, and they offer improvements on usability and flexibility of the equipment. It also gives us the additional capacity we needed and delivers the required productivity. The IFS team provided fantastic support, both during and after the installation of the new equipment.”
