Having established a reputation with design agencies for high quality results, continuing to deliver unrivalled consistency was a paramount consideration for Abacus Print when it invested in a Horizon CRF 362 creaser folder from Intelligent Finishing Systems.
The Wembley operation also offers a trade print service and wanted a system to replace an aging folder. It also needed a solution that could manage thicker substrates.
Jonathan Luck, managing director, explains: “We were having to crease and fold in two separate processes. We also run a lot of heavier stock too and that required creasing and often hand finishing. It made sense to look at a system that could manage both steps.”
The Horizon CRF-362 creases and folds in one pass a wide range of light and heavy weight stocks, coated or uncoated. Capable of up to ten crease lines on a sheet, it uses an impact scoring technology that eliminates or minimizes cracking of the stock or printed image.
Set-up and changeovers – including fold pattern, creasing number, and up/down crease selection – are completed on the high resolution intuitive colour touch screen.
Luck did review solutions on the market before choosing the Horizon: “We looked at other systems but the Horizon was an obvious choice. It creases both sides of the sheet and there is a good distance between the creases which results in a neater and more consistent product. We also liked the ease of set up which helps us better manage short run fast turnaround work.
As for return on investment he says: “We can save hours and hours on jobs. I would imagine it will go a long way to paying for itself within 12 months.”
