London printsmiths Boss Print were the recipients of this year’s IFS sponsored Best British Book accolade at the 2019 British Book Design & Production Awards with its book North Northwest.
Designed by Lionhouse, a full service brand communications agency in Bath, with photography by Julian Calverley and published by Concentric Editions, it features Julian’s cinematic beautiful landscape photography detailing the beauty of Scottish Highlands in the autumn and winter.
Julian worked at dawn and dusk with long shutter speeds to capture the movement of water. The stunning camera work also featured different elements of environment often in extreme weather conditions. The finished piece conveys a theatrical air.
Images were printed with Boss Print’s Vivid Colour Process on gloss art paper by Fedrigoni UK and the cover was debossed and foiled block with a Foilco bright orange accent.
“We are delighted to help recognise the enormous creativity, design acumen and print expertise that can transform beautiful pictures so effectively into a genuinely wonderful and captivating book,” comments Eric Keane, IFS Managing Director.
He continues: “This event continues to show year after year the power of print and its ability to engage, entertain and inspire imagination in content, creation and delivery.”
