The elimination of outsourcing costs and waiting times to create a faster one-stop shop service were the reasons behind Crown Litho’s investment in an Intelligent Finishing System-supplied Foliant B2+ Taurus 530SF laminator.
“We wanted to keep control of as much work as possible,” comments Managing Director Bob Avery. “We were sending our lamination work out and that involved transportation costs and longer turnaround times. Now we are confident in our ability to produce everything on site and our customers like the fact we offer more services in-house.”
As for the impact on the business, Mr Avery states: “We had been noticing an increase in requests for lamination but were not so keen to recommend it because of the need to outsource. Now we can provide the service we will be offering it more.” He adds: “The Taurus will very easily pay for itself.
Crown Litho reviewed the solutions on the market including the D&K Europa but chose the 30mpm Foliant Taurus, with a fast warm up and interactive touch screen, for a number of reasons explains Mr Avery: “The Foliant has a heavier build quality and we felt it was easier to set up and run. That meant it was simple to install in the bindery so we could start work straight away.”
The compact design of the Foliant Taurus incorporates a feeder, laminator, and a sheet separator. It also has a rising pile back separation stream feeder and a suction paper feed head
