Affordable and easy to operate solutions aimed at helping commercial printers develop a short run packaging service will be highlighted by IFS at Packaging Innovations 2014, Birmingham NEC on February 26 and 27.
On stand J14 will be a Foliant Gemini laminator, one of 14 options in the robustly built and simple to run range. All feature intuitive controls for fast machine set-ups and adjustments help ensure economical operation and easy maintenance.
The compact system incorporates a feeder and a sheet separator. It also has a rising pile back separation stream feeder and a suction paper feed head. Easy to operate, it is an ideal system for the completion of fast turnaround work.
The capabilities of Petratto’s flagship Metro system, designed to meet demand for complex short run converting and fulfilment, will be demonstrated on a plasma screen. Built to individual specifications it can include a long in-feed table, a short side lay-side register and a camera integrity system to read barcodes, as well as gatefold and pocketfold attachments.
There is an optional perforation shaft for scoring and perforation while other applications include a pile feeder, a short hopper feeder and die-cutting capabilities. Additionally, glue can be placed in any XY direction, while double-sided adhesive tape can be applied to a variety of products including theatre bills, envelopes and advertising posters. Fugitive glue can be used too.
Tony Hards, IFS Joint Managing Director, comments: “While well known for our range of industry-trusteed and highly-responsive automated commercial print finishing solutions, IFS has created a select packaging focussed portfolio to service a growing market demand for creative short-run solutions. They are designed to help printers easily add new services to expand their capabilities and ways of generating profits.
“For example the Metro allows commercial operations to expand into fulfilment and handle their client’s entire project while packaging printers can get involved in shorter-run, more complex packaging and mailing.”
