When Gateshead die cutting and print finishing specialist Paragon Cutting Formes Ltd opened it is doors in 1991 it was founded on the ethos of doing whatever it could to support customer requirements.
This fundamental business building block is as evident today as it was then and was the driving force behind its first step into perfect binding with investment a Horizon BQ-470 four clamp perfect binder.
Garry Wilson, Managing Director, explains: “A local supplier that offered perfect binding unfortunately closed and we assessed how we could address that new gap in the market. We also looked at how to add that service and how it would complement our other capabilities.
As for choosing the right binder to deliver the required results he says: “We have built up a strong reputation for quality and service and wanted to ensure we could continue to provide that with the new process. The Horizon system gave us that peace of mind. It is robust and ensures very high quality and consistent results. It is also very easy to set up and run which means we can confidently meet our customers’ expectations. We are very pleased with it.
“We chose the four clamp option because we knew the volumes would be there and with the intuitive touch screen set up we can process jobs quickly and easily. In its first couple of months it has been running very well and we have been very busy. We think it will pay for itself within two years.”
The Horizon BQ-470 four clamp perfect binder is ideally suited to mid-range soft back book production with higher production speeds, instant make readies for runs-of-one. It can bind up to 65mm (2.55”) thickness and offers fully automated set-up through an intuitive icon-based LCD touchscreen.
