Lazar Print Books New Business with Horizon
General printer starts trade service with ‘professional’ booklet line

Watford’s Lazar Print is breaking into trade booklet production work following its investment in a Horizon SPF/FC-200A stitch/fold/trim line supplied by Intelligent Finishing Systems Ltd.

Owner Tony Lewis, who set up the £1m turnover jobbing commercial print operation in 1986, says:

“I looked at the various machines on the market but the Horizon SPF/FC-200A really stood out – it did exactly what is said on the tin. We had been running an older machine and we knew it was time to upgrade. To get work, and keep it, in this day and age you have to keep upping your game; it’s important to build a good relationship with your clients but it’s absolutely essential to deliver the goods… and to do that you must have right equipment.”

“The Horizon is a robust system that is significantly faster in terms of productivity and that means we are able to compete on more contracts than previously – including trade work. We’ve already completed one 100,000 run job, and it handled it like a dream.”

He adds: “We also know Horizon makes high quality systems and that we can rely on the support team at IFS.”

Among the key attractions of the 4,500bph JDF-ready SPF/FC-200A is a200-programme job memory storage for instant recall, an icon-based touch-screen for job set-up and a 10-station VAC-Turbo 1000 PowerCollator. The patented Horizon advanced suction rotor drum feeding system operates effectively on a wide variety of paper stocks at high speeds. Accuracy and reliability are assured by mis-feed, double feed and jamming sensors on each bin and the feed error history can be monitored via the touchscreen.
