Following its move to new premises, Belle Design & Print has chosen a Horizon SPF/FC-200A stitch/fold/trim line from Intelligent Finishing Systems to support highly flexible print production.

The Salford family-run business was established in 1991 and has recently moved into newly constructed, bigger premises following flooding at the previous site. The change of location has created the opportunity to take a fresh approach to print production.

Helen Docherty, a director, explains: “We were able to design the factory layout to our own specification and with the extra space, create an efficient workflow’’.

The Horizon SPF/FC200A was chosen to support the emphasis on new services says Helen Docherty: “We had an old Horizon collator so wanted something that could produce the finished item in one process. We visited a local printer and saw the machine in operation and then understood the range of sizes and materials the SPF/FC200A could handle, which has allowed us to add more services to our portfolio.  It also enables fast turnaround, short run, flexible production’’.

She continues: “We liked the Horizon because of its ease of use and capability to be set up at the touch of a button. We have one particular job producing slimline diaries and much of it was hand finished. This was time consuming but is now easier, much faster and we have seen clear benefits so are looking at what else we can offer.

As for return on investment she states: “As our business grows and to remain competitive and efficient in a difficult economic climate, we regarded this a strategic purchase to give us a broader capability.’’
