IFS was delighted to again sponsor and present the Best British Book award at the BPIF British Book Design and Production Awards 2016. This year it was won by The Folio Society.
Alice In Wonderland also collected the coveted prize of Book of the Year. The Folio Society’s Folio Collectables took first place in the Brand/Series Identity.
The judges agreed Alice In Wonderland was “a worthy winner” and said that “no detail has been left as standard; every element in creating this book has been endowed with the highest specification.”
Also nominated in the category was Richard Bawden, His Life & Work by The Fleece Press and Delete A & Insert R by Geoff Neal Group.
“This fantastic event celebrates all that is good and great about British Book production,” comments Jason Seaber, IFS Technical Sales Director (pictured right). “Growth in the UK and Ireland continues to be enjoyed by high-speed continuous inkjet printed books and journals.
“This is supported by a host of finishing options from the Horizon Smart Digital Binding System to our exclusive range of continuous feeding, finishing and binding solutions from Tecnau. Collectively these help enable cost effective book binding in the UK and Ireland to be a profitable reality allowing publishers to look closer to home for fast turnaround high quality results.”
The guest host for the evening was Baroness Floella Benjamin OBE, best known for ‘Playschool’ and ‘CBeebies’ Bedtime Stories’. In 2013 Floella was made a Fellow of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. This year she has been promoting their Shakespeare in schools initiative.
The achievements of the finalists were celebrated in Book of the Night designed by ThePAGEDESIGN and produced by BPIF member, Boss Print.
