Luxury and commercial Printing company Evolve Print Solutions has chosen an Intelligent Finishing Systems-supplied Foliant Taurus 530SF laminator to support increased demand for short run digital work.
The Rickmansworth operation recently added a Linoprint digital press from Heidelberg which prompted the need for responsive in-house lamination.
It produces a range of print from brochures, catalogues and look books to leaflets, stationery, reports, posters, newsletters and direct mail on a five-colour plus coater Heidelberg XL75, Xerox and a Linoprint digital colour press.
States managing director Richard Gregory: ”We looked at what was on the market and felt this was the right choice for us. It is easy to run and simple to set up which is a must for short run lamination.”
The small footprint 30m/min B2+ Foliant Taurus 530SF features a rising pile back separation stream feeder and a suction paper feed head. The compact design incorporates feeder, laminator, and a sheet separator in a single construction.
“We are also handling much more fast turnaround work. We needed to be able to complete that in house to manage the turnaround times and remain cost effective. We wanted to keep the clients happy too and the quality of the work being produced was paramount,” explains Gregory.
The laminator follows the addition of a Horizon CRF362 creaser. The Horizon CRF-362 creaser folder delivers high quality folded products on a wide range of light and heavy weight stocks, coated or uncoated. It creases on the top and bottom and set up is via a colour touchscreen.
“We wanted a system that could handle the short runs from the Linoprint as well as some of the shorter run litho jobs. We had two folders but they would take some time to set up. The creaser makes us much faster on short runs and it has improved our throughput.”
As for the ROI of both solutions Gregory said: “They were both a bought with the need to address business efficiency. Now we will be able to deliver more fast turnaround jobs while meeting the high quality expectations of our customers.”
